Ways to Give
You can make a gift by mailing a check to us at PO Box 851, Mount Desert, ME 04660, or calling us at 207-244-8011 and asking for Gail Thompson, Director of Advancement.
You can wire your gift to IHT. Contact IHT for instructions on wiring funds.
You can donate online by clicking on one of the above buttons. You can make a one time donation, or become a monthly donor by joining Community Keepers. Recurring donations are an easy and effective way to support IHT.
Island Housing Trust welcomes gifts of stock. Gifts of appreciated securities are a generous and efficient way to support IHT, and can offer many tax advantages for you. To donate stocks, please contact Gail Thompson or call IHT at 207-244-8011 to let us know a stock gift is coming. You can make a gift through your donor-advised fund. DAFs can be easily set up through a community foundation or your financial institution to serve as a flexible charitable giving vehicle. You can even make a recurring yearly gift through your DAF. Talk with your financial advisor for details. If you would like to establish a DAF, please contact your local community foundation or financial advisor for specific advice.
If you are age 70 1/2 , the Charitable IRA Rollover allows you to make a direct transfer from an Individual Retirement Account to a charity of your choice. The gift counts toward the donor’s Required Minimum Distribution. You do not pay income tax on the amount transferred to charity nor do you receive a tax deduction for the gift. Donors may give up to a total of $100,000 tax free during the tax year using the Charitable IRA Rollover.
